LifeWave Makes Donation to Olympic Movement – in Honor of Hall of Fame Olympic Coach Richard Quick
March 30, 2010
The pursuit of an Olympic dream is an endeavor that demands sacrifice. Athletes training for such a lofty goal undergo not only physical and mental strains, but financial ones as well. The time commitments required for training simply leave many athletes without the means to fully support themselves.
Fortunately, there are organizations out there dedicated to ensuring that every athlete has an opportunity to achieve success. SwimMAC Medalist Club is one such organization, and LifeWave is proud to donate $10,000 to help SwimMAC Medalist Club achieve its mission of supporting US Olympic Swimmers. We make this donation in honor of the late Coach Richard Quick – six-time US Olympic swim coach and valued LifeWave staff member.
Coach Quick was the first Olympic coach to recommend LifeWave patches to his atheletes. His swimmers wore Energy Enhancer patches at the 2004 Olympic trials and Olympic games, generating a great amount of media buzz and ultimately propelling LifeWave into the spotlight on a national level. Coach Quick’s support was, therefore, instrumental to LifeWave’s early growth and development. After retiring from coaching, Coach Quick joined LifeWave as our Director of Athletics.
“We are honored to make this contribution on behalf of Coach Quick, and to continue the tradition he established at LifeWave of helping athletes reach their full potential” said LifeWave Founder & CEO David Schmidt.
The SwimMAC Medalist Club is the funding arm of SwimMAC Team Elite, a group of competitive US swimmers dedicated to their 2012 London Olympics dreams. Team Elite trains under the leadership of two-time Olympic and 12-time NCAA Champion David Marsh, mentored under Coach Quick for 30 years.
According to the SwimMAC Medalist Club, it costs about $30,000 per year to house, feed and train an aspiring Olympic swimmer. Donations are essential to funding these resources for our future Olympians.
